First Time Skiers

Adjusting to higher altitudes can be tough if you’re not prepared. Learn what to expect and how to prevent altitude sickness so you can feel your best and make the most of your first ski trip.

Key notes

Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water before and during your trip to help your body adjust to the altitude.

Fuel Your Body: Eat balanced meals and avoid alcohol or excessive caffeine, which can worsen dehydration.

Seek Help if Needed: If symptoms become severe, rest, descend to a lower altitude if possible, and notify trip staff or seek medical attention. Oxygen tanks will be available at the resort for purchase.

Hair Style Recs & Tips

Protecting your natural hair on the slopes is key to staying comfortable and confident. Check out our tips for keeping your curls, braids, or locs moisturized, covered, and helmet-ready for a full day of skiing or snowboarding.

Pro Tips & Highlights

  •  If you plan on getting your hair braided, we recommend you do so at least 3 days before the start of the trip so your scalp isn’t sore while wearing a helmet.
  • Wear a satin lined scarf or headwrap under your helmet to protect your edges
